Sydney leapfrog Victory with Big Blue triumph

Sydney FC moved off the bottom and ahead of rivals Melbourne Victory with a 2-0 win in an entertaining Big Blue at Cromer Park on Saturday.

Played in consistent rain, the home side took an early lead through Princess Ibini before Lisa De Vanna doubled the advantage after half-time to sew up three points for the second successive match.

Sydney midfielder Kylie Ledbrook hit the crossbar with a long-range free-kick between those strikes, but the Sky Blues did enough to go level with fifth-placed Melbourne City on six points.

Victory, meanwhile, slide back into the bottom three and are now winless in four matches.
