Adelaide United lock down 'leader' Johns

Adelaide United have added "maturity and leadership" with Laura Johns re-signing for the new Westfield W-League season.

Johns, 24, adds valuable experience to Ivan Karlovic's squad having spent two previous campaigns with the club.

She first featured in 2012/13 before returning to play nine matches last term.

"We were able to get a strong idea of Laura's abilities last season," he told Adelaide's official website.

"After struggling with injury early last season we are excited to have her fit and ready for this campaign.

"She carried that good form from the W-League season into the WNPL with Adelaide Uni and now it's about Laura taking her game up another level.

"At 24, she has plenty of football experience and will be an important player for us in the new season.

"Laura's maturity and leadership will help develop our young playing group."

Johns' commitment follows a raft of additions including Dylan Holmes and Kahlia Hogg, along with the re-signings of Georgia Campagnale and Chelsie Dawber.
