There was nothing to seperate Sydney FC's Aubrey Bledsoe and Melbourne City's Lydia Williams as they were recognised as joint-recipients of the Goalkeeper of the Year award for the 2019/20 Westfield W-League campaign at the Dolan Warren awards on Thursday night.
Bledsoe and Williams met in the 2019/20 Westfield W-League Grand Final where Williams and City came out on top in a tightly-contested 1-0 affair.
Although only one of the two goalkeepers could walk away a Champion on that afternoon in March both Bledsoe and Williams came away from the Dolan-Warren awards with something to celebrate, after their respectively brilliant 2019/20 campaigns separated them from the rest as the best performers of the season.
Williams made 14 starts for City throughout an invincible season; Rado Vidosic's side won 13 of 14 and drew once on their way to a Premiership/Championship double, conceding just five goals throughout the entirety of the campaign.
Williams made 32 saves throughout those 14 games and kept a remarkable nine clean sheets; the Westfield Matildas goalkeeper was protected by a stellar City backline but made her saves when it mattered most to ensure her side dominated the 2019/20 campaign from start to finish.
Bledsoe's Sky Blues travelled over trickier terrain to join City in the Westfield W-League Grand Final, which made the American shot-stopper's performance throughout all the more impressive.
In her 14 appearances Bledsoe made 60 saves, just eight less than Claire Coehlo's league-high 68 throughout the campaign.
Bledsoe conceded just 13 goals throughout the regular season, kept a clean sheet in Sydney's Semi-Final clash with favourites Melbourne Victory - who shipped three past the Sky Blues in the final round of the season - and conceded just one in the Grand Final to the completely ruthless City who were used to scoring at a rate of knots against all other defences.
