Brisbane super-sub Toby inspires Roar to victory

Brisbane Roar substitute Allira Toby was the catalyst for an sizzling second half display in their  2-0 win over Melbourne City on Sunday at Suncorp.  

After an even opening 45 minutes, Roar ran over the top of City in the second half with two excellent goals, and it could've easily been more.

  • ROAR CHANCE: Katrina Gorry wriggling clear in the box but smashing her shot wide
  • CITY CHANCE: The ball fell to Kyah Simon in the box but she placed her shot into the side netting.

  • CITY CHANCE: Dobson with a  header onto the Roar bar before the ball was scrambled away after 53 mins. 
  • ROAR CHANCE: Wai Ki Cheung heading over as the game opened up. 
  • GOAL! Super-sub Allira Toby with virtually her first touch scores the opener for Roar after 61 mins. 
  • GOAL! Katrina Gorry with a super second goal for Roar ten minutes later. 
  • ROAR HIT CROSS BAR: Toby hits the bar as the home side went for a third

Super-sub Allira Toby with virtually her first touch after coming on three minutes earlier  but it a brilliant assist from Polkinghorne, who won the defensive tackle then punted a brilliant long ball over the top where Toby out-ran Kennedy and calmly lobbed Lydia Williams for a stunning opener. 

Gorry Roar 2-0, 71'

Gorry with a perfect curling set piece that wasn't cleared   by City and the ball bounced over and into the net past Lydia Williams' despairing dive.
