Signing news: Wanderers secure ex-Jets midfielder
Western Sydney Wanderers have bolstered their midfield stocks for the Westfield W-League 2020/21 Season with the signing of Libby Copus-Brown.
The 22-year-old joins the Wanderers after spending last season at Newcastle Jets, where she has featured 16 times since 2013.
“I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Wanderers and they are probably one of the biggest clubs we have here in Australia so I’m really excited to be part of it,” said Copus-Brown on the Wanderers’ website.
“I think it’s a good time in my career to step out of my comfort zone and really challenge myself in a new environment under a new coach and around new players so I continue to develop.”
Copus-Brown will be a key addition to the Wanderers midfield, following the departure of the likes of Amy Harrison and Ella Mastrantonio.
“We are very excited to be working with Libby as she’s an energetic and dynamic player that we hope will bring a lot to our team this season,” said Wanderers boss Dean Heffernan.
“With our pre-season commencing in a few weeks’ time, we’re looking forward to getting to work with her.”
The Wanderers are looking to build on their fourth place finish last season, the first time ever the club reached the Westfield W-League Finals Series.
