EXCLUSIVE: we go one-on-one with Perth Glory star Sam Kerr

After much success with the Westfield Matildas, as well as in the National Women’s Soccer League in the US and the Westfield W-League in 2017, it’s been a remarkable 12 months for Sam Kerr.

As well as astonishing team success, the 24-year-old has received a plethora of individual accolades, including being named Australia’s Sportswoman of the Year, AFC’s Women’s Player of the Year and NWSL’s Most Valuable Player for 2017.

And Australia’s golden girl is only looking to continue on this amazing run in 2018.

We sat down with Kerr as part of our “One on One” series, talking everything from her crazy 2017, to stealing the spotlight from her ex-AFL star brother.

“It’s been hectic to say the least, but it’s been really enjoyable,” she said.

“I’ve enjoyed playing for the Matildas a lot more, playing for the Sky Blue a lot more and being fit, after being injured the last few years.

“I think at the moment, there’s more people talking about what we as female athletes are doing rather than ex-AFL players!”
