They breed them tough in Sydney’s west which is one reason why you can bet Amy Harrison is destined for success.
The 19-year-old has been tearing it up for Sydney FC in the Westfield W-League, bossing the midfield with her energy and quality for a couple of years now.
Harrison made her W-League debut against Melbourne Victory as a 16-year-old back in the 2012/13 season.
It was the following season she would make her true mark, netting his first goal and playing 12 out of 13 games.
The 2014 campaign was another standout and she was subsequently named the Westfield W-League Young Player of the Year.
Given her maturity and leadership qualities, Harrison has captained the Young Matildas and also earned her first senior international cap last year against New Zealand.
Unfortunately for Harrison, she ruptured her ACL just last month, ruling her out of the Rio Olympic qualifiers and probably most of 2016 as she starts her rehabilitation.
It will only be a small roadblock in what promises to be an exciting career for this exceptional attack-minded midfielder.A worthy nomination for December’s NAB Young Footballer of the Year.
