How to watch Westfield W-League players in Westfield Matildas v Vietnam

The Westfield Matildas are about to take another big step to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and there are a raft of Westfield W-League stars set to play a big part.

Ante Milicic’s side face Vietnam in their Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Play-Off at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on Friday, March 6 (kick off at 6.30pm AEDT) with no less than 15 Westfield W-League stars in the 20-player squad.

Newly-crowned Premiers Melbourne City have been rewarded for their dominant domestic campaign with six players in the squad in Emily van Egmond, Ellie Carpenter, Steph Catley, Lydia Williams, Aivi Luik and Kyah Simon.

Their fellow Westfield W-League Semi Finalists Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC are also well represented with Victory duo Jenna McCormick and Teagan Micah joining the Sky Blues’ Alanna Kennedy in camp.

Fifth-placed finishers Brisbane Roar also contribute five players to the green and gold in the form of Katrina Gorry, Elise Kellond-Knight, Mackenzie Arnold, Clare Polkinghorne and Tameka Yallop.

While Canberra United’s Karly Roestbakken is also in the mix.

Friday night’s clash at McDonald Jones Stadium is the first leg of the two leg play-off that can seal the Westfield Matildas progression to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The second leg will be played in Vietnam next Wednesday, 11 March at Cẩm Phả Stadium (10:00pm AEDT).
