Canberra United head coach Vicki Linton has bolstered her defensive options for the Westfield W-League 2020/21 Season with two new signings on Tuesday.
Young defenders Jessika Nash and Clare Hunt have both joined the 'Green Machine' for the upcoming campaign as United continue to strengthen.
It's a return to United for Hunt, who has played two seasons with the club between 2016 and 2018.
Knee injuries have blighted her career recently but she gets another shot in the Westfield W-League after impressing for Sydney University in the NSW NPLW this year.
"I have been out of the Westfield W-League now for a little while so I am excited to come back to Canberra United," Hunt, 21 said.
"It will be great to play in the Westfield W-League alongside girls that I have played with at Sydney Uni or with Canberra United.
"I'm also excited to be coached by Vicki, who I worked with at the junior national level, so I am excited to be under her guidance again. It is wonderful to be back with the club and I am really excited for the season ahead."
Meanwhile, it's an exciting time for 16-year-old Nash, who is about to embark on her first season in the Westfield W-League.
Nash, who captained the Junior Matildas at the 2019 AFC U16 Women’s Championship in Thailand, played every match in the heart of defence for the FNSW Institute in the NSW NPLW this season.
"I am looking forward to the season and working with Vicki at Canberra United," Nash said.
"It is a bit daunting to think of heading to Canberra at my age but I'm more excited than anything.
“I know this is the start of an exciting journey."
