Match preview: Western Sydney Wanderers v Perth Glory

Perth Glory travels to Sydney to take on the Western Sydney Wanderers in a Round 13 clash that may go a long way into determining their Westfield W-League fate.

Bobby Despotovski’s side sit in fourth spot and on the precipice of dropping out of a finals position and have to negotiate a Wanderers side brimming with confidence following their shock 4-1 win over Adelaide United in Round 12.

There were four different goal scorers for Dan Barrett's side on Saturday afternoon, with Elizabeth Addo scoring the pick of the bunch and making a nuisance of herself all game.

Despite Western Sydney are merely playing for pride at this point of the 2018/19 Season, they will be buoyed by the prospect of influencing the final standings, as they also take on top-four challengers Newcastle Jets in Round 14.

Sam Kerr is still the Westfield W-League’s leading goalscorer, but goals to Caitlin Foord and Veronica Latsko in Round 12 mean the Westfield Matilda has a scarce amount of breathing room.

The last time these two sides met was back in Round 3 where a Rachel Hill brace and a Kerr goal did the damage for the hosts, securing a 3-0 win and confirming Perth as potential Premiers.

Can Western Sydney make it two wins from two, or will Perth Glory get a foothold in the top four and give themselves a platform heading into Round 14?
