This Sunday’s TV match is one of the highlights of the Westfield W-League season as Melbourne bragging rights go on the line when City take on Victory at AAMI Park.
The Hyundai A-League derby has reached epic proportions in recent times, none more so than last month’s match-up highlighted by Tim Cahill’s headline-grabbing goal.
Now it is the turn of the Westfield W-League to take centre-stage and a chance for Victory to get one over City for the first time in the competition.
City took all before them enroute to the crown last season, but they were supremely lucky to collect a 2-1 win over Victory this time last year in the inaugural meeting. Results, it seem, go out the window come derby time.
City have been forced to really tough out their two wins thus far, and while Victory's form has been erratic, it wouldn't surprise if yet another tight one is played out on AAMI Park's lush surface.
The match will also be a chance for many supporters of both clubs to see their new imports for the first time.
Tune in for the start of the broadcast at 2pm on Sunday on Fox Sports 505 and ABCTV.
