In many ways Wednesday evening’s match is a crucial outing for both teams as they continue to hunt a top-four berth.

With a five-point gap between the pair, Adelaide know a defeat will mean the Victory move out of their range with just four matches remaining. Conversely a win will ensure they remain in touching distance of the fifth-placed Victory.

The last time the pair met just a fortnight ago saw a hefty 4-0 defeat for the Lady Reds in Melbourne. Since then Adelaide have collected successive wins, while the Victory saw their five-mach undefeated run ended.

In truth the scoreline at Lakeside Stadium earlier this month was rough justice on Adelaide as three late goals were added to a first-half goal-of-the-year contender from Christine Nairn.

The Victory will also go into the match, which has been brought forward given the club’s upcoming International Women's Club Championship commitments, without key personnel in Lisa De Vanna and Emma Checker who will serve a club imposed suspension.

Adelaide, for their part, have been a transformed team in recent weeks and the arrival of experienced defensive enforcer Danielle Brogan has undoubtedly been an important factor.

Two talented and well matched teams promise a fine evening’s entertainment at the impressive Adelaide Shores.
