A tough and physical contest can be expected with both teams absolutely desperate for victory, albeit for differing reasons.

Adelaide need a win to maintain their top-four aspirations, while Sydney will be desperate to halt their unexpected freefall amid a club record three straight defeats.

Sydney boast a ten-match winning run against the Lady Reds which includes a 2-0 win early this campaign, and a last-gasp 2-1 win in Adelaide last season. The Sky Blues will be hoping history repeats.

On the bright side for the Sky Blues is the return of their trio of Westfield Young Matildas including first-teamers Amy Harrison and Natalie Tobin.

The end of the international commitments are even more important for Adelaide who welcome back no less than five of their young starlets.

Their presence was missed last week in a one-sided loss to Brisbane Roar, but Ross Aloisi’s charges will be a different proposition this week.

Adelaide won three straight leading into last weekend’s match so the Sky Blues underestimate the hosts at their peril.
