Preview: Canberra United v Brisbane Roar

This match typically stands out as one of the highlights of the Westfield W-League season with the pair having met in two Grand Finals down the years.

The two also met on the opening day of the season where Brisbane recorded a 2-1 win on home soil, arguably a shock against last season's champions.

Since then things have turned around for the pair with Canberra collecting a pair of road wins to leapfrog into second.

Brisbane, conversely, are at the crossroads. After winning their first two games, they have slipped to a club record losing streak of four matches.

After this weekend’s match-up against Canberra they face old rivals Sydney FC away, and then runaway leaders Melbourne City. They can ill-afford another defeat here, adding yet more spice to this contest in the nation’s capital.

Canberra, for their part, really look like they are finding their momentum now.  They like, Brisbane, will be buoyed by the return of their national team players from international duty.

United have been without Michelle Heyman and Caitlin Munoz at training this week, but it seems hugely unlikely they will not take the field for what promises to be a high-quality encounter.
