The Jets have enjoyed an impressive campaign after their wooden spoon season, but they have little margin for error if they are to continue towards a remarkable turnaround. A draw will keep their hopes mathematically alive, albeit hanging by a thread.

Seven days ago Newcastle played out a high-tempo drama-charged 3-3 draw against high-flying Canberra United. If they can repeat that form then the visiting Adelaide are in for a torrid afternoon in Newcastle’s western suburbs.

Peter McGuiness continues to enjoy a largely injury-free campaign and his catalogue of local and imported stars are all set to again line up.

Earlier this season the Jets left the City of Churches with a sparkling 4-0 win in a one-side contest, highlighted by a Rhali Dobson double.

With Adelaide’s semi-final ambitions ended a fortnight ago, only pride is on the line for Adelaide who are playing their final match of the season.

Pride, however, is something the Lady Reds have in abundance and a point will mean avoiding last place, while a win would like see them finish sixth.
