Preview: Perth Glory v Sydney FC

These two clubs boast a rich history of competition and with a ticket to the Grand Final on offer this match-up in Perth is sure to be no different.

The two Westfield W-League record scorelines were achieved between these two clubs, oddly just a season apart.

Sydney FC collected an 11-0 win in 2011, yet 12 months later suffered an equally astonishing 7-5 loss against the same opponent.

This season saw Perth Glory claim a more sedate 1-0 win over the Sky Blues back in December.

And while no one is predicting outlandish scorelines like in years gone by, both sides boast high-quality attacking personnel.

Perth Glory will gladly welcome back Sam Kerr from a one-match suspension, with the home side’s skipper arguably the most unpredictable attacking weapon in the league.

Both sides are set to be at full strength with the exception of Sydney FC keeper Sham Khamis who misses out through injury, and Jets reserve custodian Claire Coehlo has been drafted in her stead.

Sydney FC are of course no slouches in attack. Any side that boast the likes of Foord, Simon, Ordega and Khamis is one to be feared.

But the last time Sydney FC travelled to Perth for a semi – just two seasons ago – they slumped to a lacklustre 3-0 defeat. A repeat of that performance seems unlikely though, despite going into the match on the back of two ugly defeats.

The fact that Perth could potentially host the season decider next weekend just adds more weight to this finely-tuned contest.
