What a game it promises to be at historic Lambert Park’s in Sydney’s inner west. The home side boast a slight advantage needing only a draw, meaning the first goal for ether team could be crucial.

The unknown is how Sydney FC bounce back from last Sunday’s shock record 5-0 defeat against an imperious Perth Glory.

Sydney FC are renowned for their pride in performance, especially on home soil, but the Sky Blues’ faithful have never seen such an erratic season from their heroines.

The Jets, meanwhile, are seeking to break the second-longest finals’ drought in Westfield W-League history, having been absent from the finals since the opening season of the competition.

And while Sydney FC edged a 1-0 win earlier this season, history is likely to count for little in what could prove to be a Westfield W-League classic.

The Sky Blues will hope to give forward Kyah Simon more match time after her brief cameo last week following over a year’s absence through injury.

“Last time we played Sydney I think we gave them a bit too much respect,” said Jets skipper Emily van Egmond. “In saying that we couldn’t capitalise on chances that we should have and this week need to capitalise on in order to claim victory.”

Even a draw could also grant entry into the top-four for the Jets should Perth Glory defeat Canberra United on Sunday.
