There are so many reasons to look forward to this match-up featuring two sides boasting enormous quality.
However there will be special focus on the possible return of Kyah Simon with the talismanic Sydney FC forward aiming to return to action after over a year out with a knee injury suffered on Westfield Matildas duty last year.
The Sky Blues also hope to field goalkeeper Casey Dumont after a nasty injury suffered when the two teams last met as the Glory secured a tough 1-0 win.
At that point of the season Sydney FC were going through a period of turmoil with coach Alen Stajcic having just departed as a run of injuries dented both confidence and playing stocks.
Finally the Sky Blues rediscovered their renowned goalscoring form with a 5-0 rout of Adelaide a fortnight ago.
And while the signs are promising for the home side, they also have the extra incentive of knowing a win will lock up a position in the finals, and potentially a home semi.
A sub-plot for this match will be the sight of former Sky Blues Caitlin Foord, Sam Kerr and Alanna Kennedy running around in the Glory’s distinctive purple strip.
For Wollongong born-and-bred Foord the match will be especially special, being a rare chance to turn out in her hometown.
Focus too will be on the ability of the Glory to maintain their impressive momentum for what is effectively the first of two dead rubbers prior to the finals. They could barely have wished for a tougher task than away to Sydney FC.
