Signing news: American star Stengel joins Canberra
Canberra United have secured a huge steal on the eve of the new Westfield W-League season with the signing of Katie Stengel.
Stengel, 27, signs for Heather Garriock's side on a one-year loan deal from National Women's Soccer League side Utah Royals.
The American youth international has also featured for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, and for fellow Westfield W-League outfits Western Sydney Wanderers and Newcastle Jets.
She arrived in the nation's capital last week.

“Having coached against Katie in the Westfield W-League and seeing what she’s capable of, I’m very glad she’s on our roster this year,” Garriock said.
“Katie has just come off a fantastic season with the Utah Royals and her goal scoring record in all competitions speaks for itself.
“She’s very strong on the ball and is both left and right footed and I think our fans are going to enjoy watching her this season.”
Stengel joins Norwegian star Elise Thorsnes as the club's second international signing.
“Canberra has been a dangerous side for years, Heather told me this is the place to be and I’m looking forward to working with her and the team this year.”
