Sydney FC ranked among Australasia's best sporting teams

Westfield W-League Champions Sydney FC have been named among Australasia’s Best Sporting Teams over the past five years.

The annual ABST award recognises the strongest clubs across all sports in Australia and New Zealand on a rolling five-year period, and the Sky Blues have been ranked in 18th position.

In the qualifying period, Ante Juric's side reached three Grand Finals, lifting the trophy in 2019, and finished second in the Premiers Plate race in 2017/18.

Sydney FC's Hyundai A-League team came in fourth place overall, behind Melbourne Storm of the National Rugby League, Kiwi Super Rugby side Crusaders, and women’s cricket side, New South Wales Breakers.

A statistical model analyses and grades every elite club in Australia and New Zealand sport based on a range of factors, including win/loss record, finishing position and stability of competition.

The award, presented by Platinum Asset Management and Gain Line analytics, recognises the evolving sporting landscape, emerging competitions and the rise of women’s sport in 2019.
