US players in Australia: Hill on target again
The foreign talent in the Westfield W-League is stronger than ever but it’s the American contingent which have really taken the league by storm in the opening month.
US duo Rachell Hill (Glory) and Makenzy Doniak (Reds) have been in superb touch to start the season, netting six and four goals respectively in the first four rounds.
Here’s how the American players fared in the Westfield W-League in Round 4.
Rachel Hill continued her sensational start to the season, netting her sixth goal in four games as Perth Glory beat Melbourne Victory 3-1.
Amanda Frisbie also played a full 90 minutes for Glory while FC Kansas City utility Christina Gibbons was in Victory’s starting side.
Another American was also on the scoresheet with Toni Pressley scoring Canberra’s winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Newcastle.
Haley Kopmeyer was in goal for United, while striker Katie Stengel, goalkeeper Britt Eckerstrom and defender Arin Gilliland all played for the Jets.
Midfielder Celeste Boureille played all 90 minutes as Brisbane beat Adelaide 1-0 with her Portland Thorns team-mate, Westfield Matildas striker Hayley Raso supplying the winning goal.
Another American Carson Pickett also played a full part for the Roar while Katie Naughton and Makenzy Doniak featured for Adelaide United.
Meanwhile, Lauren Barnes and Ashley Hatch were unable to prevent a 3-2 defeat for their Melbourne City side at the hands of Sydney FC.
