Tune in to ABC1 each Sunday at 3pm nationally for LIVE* Westfield W-League action, this week featuring Brisbane Roar hosting Sydney FC in a potentially epic clash.
With the pair having won four of the six Westfield W-League crowns, this match is a traditional highlight on the annual fixture list.
Adding an extra layer of intrigue is the familiarity between both sets of players via numerous Westfield W-League encounters, and in many instances, shared experiences for the national team.
The two sides experienced contrasting starts to their respective campaigns with hosts Brisbane Roar suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hand of an impressive Perth Glory, while Sydney saw off Adelaide United with a goal in each half.
It is rare for the Queenslanders to suffer succussive defeats, and perhaps too they will still be smarting from a shock 4-0 loss to the Sky Blues in the most recent match-up between the pair.
Despite numerous headline departures during the off-season, the Sky Blues enjoyed a strong opening performance in seeing off the always resilient Adelaide United last Sunday.
However, repeating that scoreline against the star-studded Roar is another matter altogether.
This season’s ABC's Sunday afternoon broadcast games will again be hosted by Stephanie Brantz, with former Matildas and Wanderers star Sarah Walsh joining Peter Wilkins in commentary.
Catch all the action Live* nationally at 3.00pm Sunday on ABC1, or catch up from Monday on ABC iView with a full replay each Tuesday at 3.30am. (*Live in AEDT states. No broadcast in WA or Vic this weekend due to pre-existing commitments.)
